How to Apply Progesterone Topical Cream

Before starting to apply your progesterone cream, be sure to wash your hands with soap and water.

When to Apply: Progesterone cream should be applied once per day in the evening unless otherwise instructed by your physician. Anytime up until the hour of bedtime is a good time to apply progesterone.

Where to Apply: Progesterone may be applied to upper/inner arms, shoulders, upper pectoral areas, inner thighs, neck, or abdomen.

Always Remember:

  • Limit your contact with other people or animals for 30 minutes after applying progesterone cream. It is possible to transfer transdermal hormones to others if it is not fully absorbed.
  • Wash your hands immediately after applying progesterone cream.
  • Do not mix or layer over other hormone creams or skin lotions.
  • Do not bathe or shower for 40 minutes after applying cream.
  • Do not exercise or do activities that cause you to sweat for 2 hours after application.
  • Always be sure to follow the directions provided by your pharmacy and physician.

Please note, these instructions are for Progesterone cream only. If you are using a combination cream (a cream containing more than one hormone or medication), contact us to receive specific instructions on how to apply.
